Sun Lake Compactor

How to dispose of your trash

How to dispose of your trash

Sun Lake has transitioned to an on site compactor for residents to dispose of their trash.  The entrance of the compactor is through a white PVC gate that is between the Club House and the pedestrian gate.

Residents must have their trash in bags.  The opening of the compactor is roughly 2’ x 3’.  All cardboard boxes must be broken down and flattened before it goes into the compactor chute.

Do Not Do This!

What to do when compactor is being serviced

Failure to break down boxes will cause trash in the chute to pile up quickly thereby jamming the chute.  We pay for the maintenance of the compactor on an hourly basis, so if the operator has to take out whole cardboard boxes to unblock the compactor before turning it on, it adds to the cost that we all pay and will certainly increase our assessments going forward.

When the compactor is full, the whole unit will be picked up by our waste hauler, taken to the landfill.  It will  be returned once its emptied.  While this is happening, there will be no compactor, and residents must keep their trash in their units until the compactor is dropped off and reconnected.  This will occur only once or twice a month and it should take no more than 3 hours.
